Mission of Uriel U.

Now more than ever at this time when free speech is being hotly debated, and because of the prevalence of what Uriels' calls "Frankfurtian humbug" to use the more genteel term, we find it helpful to note the origins of words in order to use them properly as tools for the communication of truth. In fact, it is thus that we form a community, communication and community obviously have the same root.
As for "mission"--mission, from "send" which is also the root of the celebration called "the Mass."
University apparently was coined at Bologna at the time of the imperial charter, published by Barbarossa, and originally meant a community of scholars studying the law under the patronage of the Madonna, mother of the individual who said "Ego Veritatem Sum" and founded the empire of which Barbarossa was the emperor. and so, the mission of any university would logically be to research truth in any form. The general "crisis of truth" originates somewhere in the history of thought and has both resulted from and caused a situation where we now confront such existential challenges as the possibility of annihilation through nuclear bombs (we can't get along with each other) and now, climate crises. (we can't get along with nature either.)
When a challenge presents itself, the response should be a fitting one. So, an introduction to the "raison d'etre" of universities is a good idea. For some suggestions in this area, interested visitors might check out Abraham, Astronomy, Anthropoogy, Alexander, Athens, St Paul, the gospel of John, Bologna, Oxford etc.

There is a prerequisite cor curriculum which will help us all determine what sort of angelic eavesdropping we are actually engaged in with our educational enterprise here. It begins with a series of mini courses, the first one being on the notion of "fava beans" "favors" and Fables, which can be found in On Fairy Stories. It is quite true that milk duds resemble fava beans, but this is discussed in apocryphal writings known as the Gooberman legends.
